Key terms explained

Revenue and platform terminology you'll come across in Revenue Cone.

Assessment
The process of determining how much a payer owes based on their business activity, property, or other taxable factors.
Billing Cycle
The scheduled date each month when demand notices are automatically generated and sent to all payers.
Demand Notice
An official bill sent to a payer listing the amounts owed, the revenue types, the due date, and payment instructions.
Field Officer
A staff member who works outside the office, responsible for registering new payers, conducting surveys, and verifying information on-site.
Grace Period
The number of days after a bill's due date before a late payment penalty is applied.
IGR
Internally Generated Revenue. The total revenue collected by an organisation from its own sources, as distinct from state or federal allocations.
LGA
Local Government Area. The administrative division that manages and collects local revenue on behalf of residents and businesses.
Reconciliation
The process of matching incoming payments to their corresponding bills to ensure every naira is accounted for.
Revenue Head
A category of revenue, such as Business Premises Levy, Signage Fee, or Market Fee. Each payer may be liable for one or more revenue heads.
TIN
Taxpayer Identification Number. A unique ID assigned to each payer upon registration, which appears on all demand notices and receipts.

The Analytics report now includes a 3-month revenue projection based on your collection trends, alongside an overdue rate chart and average days-to-pay metric.
